Yes. Deep Field is open to use. There's a generous daily limit per account to keep the service healthy for everyone.

Where does the data come from?

The NASA Technical Reports Server (NTRS) — 108,000+ public-domain aerospace reports, papers, and technical memoranda. The corpus keeps growing.

Does it make things up?

Deep Field is retrieval-grounded: it answers from passages it actually pulled from the corpus and cites them, so you can check every claim against the source. No system is perfect — treat it as a fast research assistant, not a final authority.
